چکیده
Aim Greenland is one of the places on Earth where effects climate change are most evident. The retreat sea ice has made East more accessible for longer periods during year. fjords have been notoriously difficult to study due their remoteness, dense conditions and lack infrastructure. As a result, biological monitoring across latitudinal gradients scarce in relies sporadic research cruises trawl data from commercial vessels. We here aim investigate transition fish marine mammal communities South Northeast using environmental DNA (eDNA). Location Greenland. Methods investigated eDNA metabarcoding seawater samples. included both surface mesopelagic samples, collected over approximately 2400 km waterway distance, by sampling Cape Farewell Ella Island August 2021. Results demonstrate clear south northeast, with detected species matching known distributions. Samples southern areas were dominated capelin (Mallotus villosus) redfish (Sebastes), whereas northeastern samples polar cod (Boreogadus saida), sculpins (Myoxocephalus) ringed seal (Pusa hispida). provide newly generated 12S rRNA barcodes 87 species, bringing public database closer full taxonomic coverage Greenlandic this locus. Main Conclusions Our results that can detect shifts Arctic region, which supplement traditional surveys understanding distributions community compositions vertebrates. Importantly, be feasible approach detecting northward range expansions remote as progresses.

Heavy metal accumulation in certain marine animals along the East Coast of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
Heavy metals disposed through anthropogenic activities find their way into the oceans and seas through the rivers or through direct fall out from factory effluents. These heavy metals resuspend back into the water column along with the sediments and are known to affect the marine animals. Marine animals like fish, prawn, crab and mussel were collected along the East Coast (off Pulicat lake to C...
متن کاملNested patterns in parasite component communities of a marine fish along its latitudinal range on the Pacific coast of South America.
A major goal of community ecology is to identify and explain non-random patterns of species composition. To date, the search for nested patterns in parasite component communities of the same fish host species has not been attempted, despite the fact that this higher hierarchical level is more relevant to nestedness analyses. The aims of this study are first, to determine the structure of compon...

Carotenoids of the corals Acropora japonica, A. secale, and A. hyacinthus, the tridacnid clam Tridacna squamosa, the crown-of-thorns starfish Acanthaster planci, and the small sea snail Drupella fragum were investigated. The corals and the tridacnid clam are filter feeders and are associated with symbiotic zooxanthellae. Peridinin and pyrrhoxanthin, which originated from symbiotic zooxanthellae...
متن کاملHistorical processes enhance patterns of diversity along latitudinal gradients.
One of the more vexing issues in ecology is how historical processes affect contemporary patterns of biodiversity. Accordingly, few models have been presented. Two corollary models (centre of origin, time-for-speciation) can be used to make quantitative predictions characterizing the tropical niche conservatism hypothesis and describe diversification as diffusion and subsequent cladogenesis of ...
متن کاملMangrove vegetation and community structure of brachyuran crabs as ecological indicators of Pondicherry coast, South east coast of India
Baseline ecological studies of Pondicherry mangroves are important for monitoring, management and conservation of mangrove ecosystems. A brachyuran crab faunal assemblage at four stations of Pondicherry mangroves is described and monthly samplings were made during September 2008 – August 2009. Totally 22 species of brachyuran crabs belonging to 12 genera and 5 families were recorded crabs bel...
